A Tale of 2 Ranches
The Legacy of Affinity Ranch
Located at 11892 Hilltop Road, Parker, Colorado 80134, Affinity Ranch is the new name for what was once Praying Hands Ranch and Promise Ranch Therapies & Recreation. This site holds a significant place in the history of the Parker community, and when we share its location, many people respond with, "I have volunteered there."
By combining the strengths and resources of both organizations, we have embraced the mantra of "Unbridled Possibilities." Affinity Ranch embodies the best of both legacies, reflecting the deep "affinity" we feel toward the incredible individuals we serve and the animal partners who make our mission possible.
Below, you will find more about the history and evolution of each of the two organizations that laid the foundation for Affinity Ranch. At Affinity Ranch, we honor the legacies of both Promise Ranch and Praying Hands Ranch, and we look forward to continuing their work, creating new opportunities and possibilities for the individuals and animals we serve.

Promise Ranch
Therapies & Recreation
Promise Ranch Therapeutic Riding began in 2008, initially focused on offering mounted therapies. Over time, the organization recognized the far-reaching potential of horses and animals to support a broader range of healing opportunities. As the years passed, Promise Ranch expanded its services to include mental health programs, supported employment opportunities, and ranch-based recreational workshops. The organization partnered with a variety of groups to create an inclusive environment for individuals in the neurodivergent community. In 2022, Promise Ranch rebranded as Promise Ranch Therapies & Recreation, to better reflect its evolving mission.

Praying Hands Ranch
Praying Hands Ranch (PHR) was founded in 1987 by Carl and Shirley Hanson, driven by their faith and Christian values. After witnessing the transformative impact horses could have on individuals with disabilities, the Hansons sought to share this healing experience with others. What began with seven clients grew into a thriving organization serving more than 50 clients per week. Initially offering outdoor lessons, PHR expanded over time with the support of the local community, adding two indoor riding arenas, along with a variety of animals—including horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, cats, alpacas, rabbits, and chickens. These animals played a vital role in the ranch's programming. The Hanson family remained deeply involved in PHR for 35 years. While they are no longer actively engaged, we remain deeply grateful for the foundation they built.
